Robert Park, formerly an associate with UFJBW, was promoted to partner effective January 1, 2019.  Robert has been with UFJBW since 2011.  Robert has steadily honed his craft to become one of the finest, most perceptive oil and gas attorneys in the State of Texas.  His excellence has been repeatedly recognized by peers and clients alike.  He is an asset to the bar and to UFJBW.  We are counting on his demonstrated ability to build on his many previous successes and provide top-notch counsel to all Texans needing assistance in the rapidly changing field of energy resource management.
Ezra Johnson will be presenting at the TexasBarCLE Oil and Gas Disputes Course at the Hilton Houston Westchase on January 11, 2019 on the subject of “Governmental Authority” and Retained Acreage Disputes.  His presentation will include a discussion on disputes that arise between oil and gas lessors and lessees when governmental spacing and density regulations are incorporated into mineral leases.
Robert Park will be speaking at the Boundaries and Easements seminar hosted by HalfMoon Education, Inc. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Hilton San Antonio Airport Hotel, 611 NW Loop 410 on the topic of Understanding Riparian and Water Rights. Robert will discuss the history and development of riparian rights, how land boundaries are determined near a water line, access rights to surface water and groundwater, and complying with regulations restricting access to and use of surface water and groundwater.
Harry W. Wolff, Jr. presented to the Practice Committee at the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (“ACTEC”) Summer Meeting in Chicago, Illinois on June 21, 2018 on the topic of “Legacy and Generational Planning for Tangible Personal Property.”  ACTEC is a national organization of approximately 2,500 lawyers elected to membership by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence, and experience as trust and estate counselors. Their members are the best and brightest in the trust and estate practice, with decades of experience representing and advising families.
We are pleased to announce that Anson Howard has joined UFJB&W as an associate in the oil and gas department after completing three years in the Marine Corps as a JAG officer. Anson’s background in ranching will hold him in good stead as he focuses his practice on the needs of land and mineral owners. Welcome Anson!
Caroleene Dobson joins UFJB&W as an associate attorney in our real estate practice. Caroleene has practiced in the area of commercial real estate law since earning her J.D. from Baylor University (magna cum laude, 2012). With a background in ranching, Caroleene will handle farm and ranch transactions and conservation easements in addition to commercial real estate. We welcome Caroleene as a valuable addition to the firm.
Ezra Johnson was recently appointed to the VIA Board of Trustees. VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority is governed by a 11-member board of trustees. Board members are appointed by San Antonio City Council (appoints five), Bexar County Commissioners Court (appoints three), and the Suburban Mayors (appoints two). The Chair of the Board is elected by the Board members. The VIA Board of Trustees meets monthly to discuss and decide policy issues and hear comments from the community within its 1200-square-mile service area. Partner Ezra Johnson and Associates Robert Park and F. Parks Brown have been recognized in the March 2018 issue of Texas Super Lawyers Magazine and also in Texas Monthly Magazine as 2018 Texas Rising Stars.  Nominated by other attorneys, this honor is reserved for those lawyers who exhibit excellence in their practice specialty.  This is Parks Brown’s first year to be recognized as a Rising Star.  Ezra Johnson has been recognized as a Rising Star two times, while this is Robert Park’s fifth consecutive year as a Rising Star.
