Biography

Parks Brown represents landowners, mineral owners and fiduciaries in the negotiation and management of oil and gas leases, solar leases, wind leases, pipeline easements, surface use agreements, mining leases, carbon sequestration agreements, and related land use contracts. His practice also includes farm and ranch transactions, groundwater and surface water matters, mitigation banking, conservation easements and the representation of land trusts. He is a sixth-generation Texan and a cum laude graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law, where he served as Articles Editor for the St. Mary’s Law Journal and was named its Editor of the Year.  Prior to joining the firm, Parks served as an intern to Judge Edward Prado of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Before attending law school, Parks spent six years working as a landman for various oil companies throughout Colorado, New Mexico and Utah.  He has authored articles on topics in mineral law, surface use and renewable energy published by the State Bar of Texas, University of Texas Law CLE and the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Journal.
